Ministry Construction & Remodeling

Church buildings and schools in Haiti take a sustained beating. Hurricanes arrive on a rough cycle. Earthquakes have twice restructured what was standing. The slow degradation of structures built without adequate materials or skilled labor means that a building that was functional last year may need significant work before it can be used safely again. Concrete block walls crack. Corrugated metal roofs corrode and lift. Floors flood. Classrooms without ventilation or natural light are not places where attention holds.

Ministry Construction and Remodeling funds larger-scale building and renovation work for partner churches and schools. Projects in this category include new sanctuary construction, classroom blocks, pastoral housing, reinforcement of existing structures that are still functional but deteriorating, and water or sanitation improvements tied to a specific facility.

All work is carried out by local contractors and laborers. We don’t bring in outside construction crews. Keeping work local means money stays in the community, Haitian builders have consistent employment, and the people who will use these buildings also have a hand in building them. Local contractors understand local conditions — soil behavior, rainfall patterns, what materials are available and what hold up — in ways that outside teams rarely do.

Every project starts with a ground-level site assessment before a budget is approved. We don’t fund projects we haven’t physically seen, and we don’t release funds in full upfront. Disbursements are tied to verified milestones — foundation complete, walls complete, roof complete. This protects everyone involved and keeps projects moving at a pace the local team can actually manage.
