Collège Évangélique Clotilde Chalumeau

Collège Evangélique Clotilde Chalumeau is a secondary school in St-Louis du Nord, serving students who have completed their primary education and are pursuing the full secondary cycle through the Rhétorique level. Emmanuel in Missions does not operate this school — it sponsors it. The distinction matters.

The school is run by a Haitian leadership team with its own administration, faculty, and local governance structure. What we provide is financial partnership: sponsorships that reduce the cost of attendance for students whose families cannot cover the full tuition, and support that allows the school to maintain its staff and resources through difficult stretches.

Secondary schooling in Haiti is where the dropout rate accelerates sharply. The combination of higher fees, longer distances, and the economic pull of early work means many students who finish primary school never complete the secondary cycle. Supporting Clotilde Chalumeau is a direct response to that reality — keeping students enrolled through the years when the pressure to leave is strongest.

Our relationship with this school is built on respect for what the Haitian team there has already built. We are not there to direct or redesign. We are there to help sustain what is working — and to ensure that sponsorship from outside the country strengthens the school rather than creating dependency on it.
