Emmanuel International Missions
Moreau · Kindergarten (Ages 3–5)
The kindergarten program in Moreau — reaching children before they enter the primary cycle, in the years when foundational learning habits are set.
Petits Trésors d’Emmanuel — Little Treasures of Emmanuel — is the kindergarten program in Moreau, operating on the same grounds as the national primary school. It serves the youngest learners: children in the years before they enter the formal primary cycle, at the age when foundational habits of learning are either established or missed.
Kindergarten in Haiti is not universally available. Rural communities rarely have dedicated early childhood programs, and the families who most need structured early learning for their children are often the least able to access it. Petits Trésors exists because the Emmanuel ministry in Moreau recognized that starting at the primary level means starting too late for many children.
The program focuses on literacy and numeracy readiness, language development, and the social skills that allow children to function in a classroom setting. Children arrive from homes where formal schooling may be entirely foreign territory — where neither parent attended school past a basic level, and where the routines of classroom life are completely new. The teachers here understand that context and meet children where they are.
Supporting Petits Trésors is an investment in the entire pipeline. Children who come through this program enter primary school more prepared, stay enrolled longer, and are more likely to complete the full cycle. The cost of early childhood education is low relative to the difference it makes — but for families living on the margins, it remains out of reach without outside support.
