What Is Emmanuel Community Seeds?

In Haiti, the local church is often the most trusted institution in its neighborhood — the place people turn to in crisis, the space where community life is organized, and the voice that speaks for those no one else is listening to. But trust alone does not sustain a community.

Emmanuel Community Seeds provides funding of $8,000 to $10,000 to local churches in Haiti to launch income-generating projects that simultaneously serve their surrounding communities. It is a structured investment in the productive capacity of the local church — with full accountability, documented co-investment, and a mandatory plan for financial growth.

Every funded project must satisfy two non-negotiable conditions:

  • The church must earn from it. Every project must generate real, recurring income for the church — sufficient to reduce its dependency on external support.
  • The community must visibly benefit from it. Every project must include a built-in service component for the surrounding neighborhood — specifically for those who cannot fully pay.

Before receiving a single dollar, every church must demonstrate 75% of the amount they are requesting in documented, itemized assets — land, equipment, materials, labor, or existing funds. Every funded church must also present a plan to reinvest 25% of the received grant back into the project within 8 to 12 months.

How Projects Are Selected

Applications are reviewed by the EIM leadership team in partnership with our field coordinators in Haiti. Projects are evaluated on feasibility, community impact, and the church's capacity to sustain the initiative beyond the grant period.

Selected projects receive funding in two installments: 60% upfront and 40% upon submission of a 90-day progress report with photos.
